Google-Patches-Bug-Preventing-Android-5-0-Lollipop-Update-Nexus-6-Release-464365-2

After an early tease with the Nexus Player, it looks like Android 5.1.1 is legitimately rolling out to the Nexus family. An OTA for the Nexus 10 was spotted just a few hours ago, and now factory images and binaries have been posted for that tablet and both generations of the Nexus 7 (Wi-Fi only, for now). There haven't been any OTA reports for the two smaller tablets, but they will probably start rolling out shortly.

New Nexus 7 wm

Heads up, Nexus Tablet owners. It appears Android 5.1.1 is gearing up for a rollout. Factory images for 5.1.1 (build number LMY47V) on the WiFi versions of the original Nexus 7 (2012), Nexus 7 2013, and Nexus 10 have all been uploaded to Google’s factory images page. Fleksy keyboard giving away free unlock to full version, but only for a limited time

Fleksy tablet

We know, it’s going to be tough for anyone already invested in their favorite keyboard app to try something new, but we implore you to give Fleksy a shot. After recently adding a handful of amazing new features, it’s been fighting for the top spot in our favorite keyboard apps ever. Yeah, it’s that good.

Right now, Fleksy is allowing anyone with the free (trial) version of their app to unlock the full version for free. All you have to do is download the free version of the app (uninstall and re-download if you already have it installed) and when you sign into their cloud service, you’ll unlock the full version for free.

Fleksy free unlock app

Normally the paid version runs about $2, which isn’t much, but this will encourage new users to give them a shot. Especially if all you’ve used is the official Google Keyboard or SwiftKey. Fleksy really does offer something different with aggressive auto-correct that allows you to sloppily type whatever you like and the ability to use a combination of gestures to undo corrections, delete words, or add words to the dictionary. Once you get in the swing of things it quickly becomes 2nd nature, so try sticking with it for a few days.

You can find the free version of Fleksy down below.

Nexus 10 Receiving An OTA To Android 5.1.1

nexus_10

The Nexus 10 appears to be receiving its Android 5.1.1 update over-the-air. This is mainly a bugfix release, but any update is welcome news, especially on a device that's considered by some to be past its prime.

511_nexus_10

The update weighs in at a somewhat paltry 13.9 MB and is most likely build LMY47V. We don't have a link to the OTA update ZIP file yet, but once we do, we'll update this post.

Grab a Nexus Player for only $75 with free $20 Google Play credit

Nexus Player hero

For anyone who can’t get enough Android in their life, the Android TV-powered Nexus Player makes a great option to streaming devices like Apple TV or Roku. Right now, the streaming set top box can now be found on Amazon for around $75, that’s about $25 cheaper than you’ll find it on the Google Store.

The Nexus Player also comes with a complimentary Google Play credit of $20 to download applications, games, or add movies to your library. We should note, this is the basic model that only comes with a remote — not the official Gamepad for playing video games (that’ll run you an extra $40). That being said, it’s still a pretty good deal for anyone who’s been eying the Nexus Player, but wanted to wait for a deal first. Grab it on Amazon via the link below.

livescribethumb

Livescribe announced at CES that they would be bringing Android support to their market-leading smartpen and now that time has come. They have released two apps, each carrying the "preview" label, to the Play Store. The apps will work with existing Livescribe 3 pens, which originally only had mobile software support on iOS. Also as promised in their announcement, the apps boast a material design that just screams, "I am not an iOS port."
